Do you know Ryanair's 'scratch cards'? Man bought all that were available on board and this was the amount raised

A passenger bought all the ‘scratch cards’ available on board a Ryanair flight to see if he could increase his chances of winning a prize, but the result ended up surprising those who watched the experience. The initiative was filmed and shared on the social network TikTok, where it quickly became a topic of discussion.

According to the British newspaper Mirror, the idea came from Vik’s friend Ethan, known online as Vikkstar. The objective was simple: acquire all the ‘scratch’ cards available on that flight and test, in practice, the chances of winning.

According to the same source, around 100 packs of ‘scratch cards’ were purchased. There was so much that other passengers began to help scratch off the cards, turning the moment into an unusual episode during the trip.

High expectations, zero results

In the shared video, Vik reported what was happening. “We’re here at Ryanair and this man, Ethan, bought all the scratch cards on the flight. I’ve already opened several scratch cards, I’ve been opening them one at a time,” he said.

The newspaper writes that, as the cards were scratched off, expectations diminished. “We won absolutely nothing. We didn’t win anything, nobody won anything. I’ll keep you updated,” he added.

Help from other passengers

According to the same source, the experiment ended up involving several people on board, who decided to collaborate in the task of scratching the cards. Despite the collective effort, the outcome remained unchanged. In one of the moments captured in the video, a passenger is heard saying: “Nobody won anything.” The phrase summarized the environment that was established after successive attempts without any prizes.

Vik also explained the rules of the game, highlighting that it would be necessary to match three symbols to obtain a reward. “You’re supposed to match three symbols, I can’t even match two. We lost again,” he said.

It adds that the protagonists were surprised that they did not get any returns, despite the high number of cards purchased. The experiment ended up serving as a practical demonstration of the probabilities associated with the game.

Online reactions and comments

After being published, the video accumulated thousands of views and comments. Some users have questioned whether the airline will allow bulk purchases in the future.

One comment said: “I bet they will never allow bulk in-flight purchases again.” Another user wrote: “I’m a Ryanair cabin crew and there’s so much more you don’t know.” There were even those who asked: “How many people actually made money from this?” and anyone who remembered: “I remember getting about £26 worth of vouchers on board.”
