Carrefour intends to boost digital presence and focus on key regions

Carrefour has unveiled plans to strengthen its digital presence and focus on operations in key countries, as part of a broader strategic plan for the coming years.

The French retailer said this Wednesday (18) that it has partnered with artificial intelligence (AI) company Vusion to digitize its hypermarkets and supermarkets in France. The multinational added that it aims for consistent market share gains in Brazil, Spain and its home country after a strategic review.

Carrefour said it intends to maintain its cost reduction plan, with a target of saving 1 billion euros per year by 2030. The company is also targeting a recurring operating margin of 3.2% in 2028 and 3.5% in 2030.

The company has a partnership with Google in “agent commerce” – using AI agents to decide on online purchases – and plans to invest 100 million euros a year in AI projects.

Through the new strategy, Carrefour aims to generate 5 billion euros in accumulated net free cash flow between 2026 and 2028, the company said. Source: Dow Jones Newswires*.
