If you like sweet dishes, rice with apple and cinnamon should become a permanent part of your menu. You can treat it as a dessert, but it will also work well for dinner or even a warming breakfast. How does rice with apples affect health? What to add to it to make it healthy and nutritious? We give you a hint.

There’s nothing like a warming sweet meal on a cold winter day. Rice with apples and cinnamon Once upon a time, it was present on tables in almost every home. It was also often served in milk bars and kindergarten and school canteens. Of course, the best ones came from my mother or grandmother. The classic recipe involves cooking rice in milk with sugar. Apples were most often fried in a pan with the addition of butter, sugar and the obligatory cinnamon. Cream also appears in many recipes. This version is delicious, but if you care about your weight on a daily basis, you can prepare an equally tasty, but more dietary option.

The base of this dish is, of course rice, a great source of energy, so it is worth eating, for example, before physical exercise. Moreover, it is also easily digestible, which makes it perfect for people who often complain of digestive system problems. They are also contained in rice B vitamins, which, among others, support the circulatory, nervous and muscular systems, as well as minerals such as: magnesiumimportant for the proper functioning of the heart, brain and muscles, or potassiumwhich helps maintain normal blood pressure.

The second, equally important ingredient is appleswhich are among the healthiest Polish fruits. They are known for their content bdietary fiber, which supports digestion, including intestinal function, ensures satiety, increases metabolism, and also helps to stabilize blood sugar and cholesterol levels. These fruits are also a good source of potassium and antioxidants, which support the circulatory system. You can’t forget about cinnamon, which helps regulate blood sugar levels, and has antibacterial properties, supporting immunity.

Rice with apple is a dish that consists primarily of carbohydrates. To make the meal complete, it’s worth smuggling some protein into it, for example in the form of skyr yogurt. Mixed cottage cheese would also be great. We also cannot forget about healthy fatswalnuts work best here, as they go perfectly with apples. Of course, you can add regular white sugar to rice with apple, but if you limit its consumption, choose erythritol or xylitol.

To prepare dietary version of rice with applewhich will be perfect for both a sweet breakfast and lunch, you will need:

  • 160 g of rice,
  • 450 milk,
  • 2 large apples,
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon,
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice,
  • 4 teaspoons of erythritol, xylitol or sugar,
  • 300 g of yogurt type skyr,
  • a handful of walnuts.

Preparation:

  1. Start by boiling the milk in a pot, then add two teaspoons of erythritol or sugar. Mix thoroughly and add the rice, cook for approx. 15-20 minutes, it is worth following the manufacturer’s recommendations on the product packaging. Remember to stir the rice from time to time so that nothing burns.
  2. Cut the peeled apples into cubes. Stew them in a pan with a little lemon juice and two teaspoons of your chosen sweetener. At the end of stewing, add cinnamon. If necessary, you can water them with a little water.
  3. Place the slightly cooled rice into bowls, add Greek yogurt and stewed apples with cinnamon.
  4. Decorate the top with chopped walnuts toasted in a pan.
