Nemesio Oseguera was one of the most wanted bosses in Mexico and the United States, who offered a reward of 15 million dollars
O Mexican army shot down this Sunday (22) the powerful drug trafficking boss Nemesio Osegueraknown as “El Mencho“, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), indicated several local media outlets, although there is still no official confirmation from the government.
Oseguera was one of the most wanted bosses in Mexico and the United Stateswhich offered a 15 million dollar reward (R$78 million). He is one of the most important drug trafficking leaders to be killed after the arrest of the founders of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, and Ismael “Mayo” Zambada, currently imprisoned in the United States.
Oseguera’s death was reported by the newspapers El Universal and Reforma, and by the broadcaster Televisa.
Earlier, armed men blocked several roads in the state of Jalisco (west) with burning cars and trucks, in response to an operation by federal forces in the region.
The blockades also extended to the neighboring state of Michoacán, where Oseguera’s group has a presence.
The Oseguera cartel was formed in 2009 and became one of the most violent drug trafficking gangs in Mexico, according to information from the United States Department of Justice.
The United States has classified this cartel as a terrorist organization and accuses it of trafficking cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
