Iceland wants to vote on joining the EU in the coming months

Warsaw – Iceland wants to bring forward the planned vote on joining the European Union to the current year. “In the coming months we will prepare the referendum on the possible resumption of accession negotiations with the European Union,” said Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir on Wednesday after a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw. At the Munich Security Conference, Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir announced corresponding plans to Reuters: “Our election program says that it should be by 2027 at the latest. But I make no secret of the fact that I would like this process to be accelerated.”
