Parliamentarians believe in the end of the veto on penalties from 8/1 – 25/02/2026 – Panel

A survey carried out by shows that the majority of parliamentarians consulted believe that Congress should overturn those convicted of the acts of January 8, 2023.

The survey interviewed 108 federal deputies from 18 parties and 30 senators from 12 parties, between January 28th and February 3rd. The margin of error is 6.5 percentage points.

In the Chamber, 68.5% of deputies believe that the veto will be overturned, with 24.1% even betting on a certain ease. On the other hand, 30.5% believe that the veto will be maintained — 12% of them see it as easy and 18.5% as difficult.

In , 60% believe in the removal of the veto, and 33.3% expect it to be maintained (only 10% of this group believe in ease), while 6.7% did not respond.

The research also points out that, in the Chamber, a large share of left-wing deputies (85%) predict the rejection of the veto, while, in the Senate, all left-wing parliamentarians are betting on it.

“When we look at the ideological aspects, it becomes clear that the debate is not just legal, but deeply political, reflecting different views on institutional prerogatives and the response to the events of January 8”, says Luan Sperandio, director of the Ranking of Politicians.
