The PT will launch an offensive against senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), PL’s candidate to succeed the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on the streets and on social media. Since polls of voting intentions began to indicate the senator’s progress, even though the election is only in October, the party decided to change its strategy.
“Flávio Bolsonaro is the essence of Brazilian fascist and ultra-conservative thought. If we don’t say that, he will be ‘friend Flávio’, the palatable candidate”, said the president of the PT, Edinho Silva, on Friday, 27, during the conference of the group Construindo um Novo Brasil (CNB), the majority in the party.
The meeting served to discuss guidelines for Lula’s re-election campaign and call on the party, given the difficulties presented in recent days.
“We are going to face Flávio Bolsonaro in the political debate. Just look at history: he was not born from an eggshell. Let’s look at every vote he had. Now, he wants to become an empty glass. He is not an empty glass because he is the legacy of authoritarianism and fascism”, said Edinho, in reference to the fact that Flávio is the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, now imprisoned for an attempted coup.
To an audience made up of politicians and party figures, such as former minister José Dirceu, the PT president stated that Flávio became the “catalyst of anti-system sentiment”. It was at that moment that he asked for a quick reaction from his supporters to expose the senator’s problems.
Although he didn’t mention it, the list includes the “rachadinha” scandal. In 2020, for example, Flávio was accused by the Public Ministry of Rio of heading a criminal organization that collected part of the salaries of employees in his office, when he was a state deputy, for his own benefit. The senator denies the accusations.

“We sometimes get shocked when we fluctuate a little in the polls. What we have to understand is that we are indeed living in a difficult time, of worsening circumstances, and of immense difficulty in dialoguing with Brazilian society. We cannot deny that”, admitted Edinho. Then, however, he noted that the PT has “all the conditions” to lead Lula to victory.
O Estadão found that, during the meeting, leaders showed concern about the potential for erosion of the INSS Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) and the Banco Master scandal regarding Lula’s campaign.
On Thursday, the 26th, the CPMI decided to break the confidentiality of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, son of the president, in a tumultuous session, interrupted by punches, blows and slaps between deputies and senators.
Edinho also asked for attention to face what he called a “social media offensive” against Lula and the PT. He said that the “fraudulent structure” to put the financial system at risk was not set up in this government and classified the Bolsonarist digital mobilization as professional and organized.
“If we remain inert, Flávio Bolsonaro will be ‘friend Flávio’. But we won’t say who he is friends with?”, provoked Edinho, highlighting that the senator is a friend of opponents of the end of the 6×1 scale and of the “elites” involved in financial market scandals. “Either the PT raises the banner of political reform or we will not be the anti-system party”, he demanded.
Despite the “chacoalhão”, Edinho encouraged his peers to engage in confrontation and, by highlighting that Bolsonaro supporters have a powerful structure on social media, the PT president made a gesture.

“No robot debates more than a stimulated militant”, concluded the PT president.
