Every spring I do a simple activity that takes literally a moment. Since it became my habit, a certain bothersome problem stopped recurring. No expensive preparations or specialized tools are needed. All you need is something that most of us have on hand.
The end of winter is quite a challenge for our front doors. It is at the end of February or the beginning of March that they are most vulnerable to damage. This is often due to road salt brought in by shoes depositing on door sills and lower edges.which slowly destroys the surface.
What’s more, the ubiquitous humidity promotes corrosion of fittings and matting of paint. In turn, with the arrival of the first warmer days, insects appear and try to get inside.
Luckily we can prevent all these aspects by using a certain homemade mixturethanks to which our doors will not only remain clean and undamaged, but also protect us against insects appearing in the house.
If we want to take care of our doors after winter, we can use very simple home remedies. It turns out that a vinegar solution will be extremely useful in this case. It will effectively dissolve the minerals, making it easier to get rid of white tracesreduce the risk of corrosion and restore the smoothness of the surface.
Additionally, acetic acid provides a “masking” effect for insects, a its intense scent disturbs the scent trails left by individual scout ants, that could attract the rest of the colony to the apartment.
Another advantage is that the vinegar solution it also allows you to remove dirt from doors where grease, moisture and dust accumulate every day. Thanks to this, we will restore the smoothness and shine of the surface. At the same time, it improves not only the aesthetics of the entrance, but also hygiene.
