The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began “large-scale attacks against targets of the Iranian terrorist regime in Tehran”the Army said in a statement Wednesday morning.
This is the tenth wave of such attacks since the most recent conflict began on Saturday, according to the IDF. Earlier on Wednesday, the army said overnight bombings targeted what it described as command centers used by Iran’s feared internal security forces and the Basij militia.
“They attacked quite hard last night, it was a bad night,” a resident of north Tehran told CNN. “I don’t know exactly where they hit, but it seemed like we could hear explosions all around us.”
The resident added that he wanted to leave the city and escape to the mountains. “But we also don’t know where the military targets are, so it’s hard to say where would be safe,” he said.
Iranian state media reported that explosions were reported in several parts of the country on Wednesday morning. A photo geolocated by CNN shows a large column of dark smoke near the city of Isfahan.
