The United States raised its tone against Iran this Tuesday (10) after suspected mines in the Strait of Hormuz. “If Iran has placed mines in the Strait of Hormuz, and we have no reports of this, we demand their immediate removal! If, for any reason, mines have been placed and are not removed immediately, the military consequences for Iran will be of magnitude,” Trump said in a statement to Truth Social this Tuesday (10).

“If, on the other hand, they remove whatever was placed, it will be a big step in the right direction!” he said. Information about the installation of mines in the Strait of Hormuz was published by CNN. The site, classified as the world’s most important energy choke point, is responsible for about a fifth of all crude oil, citing two people familiar with US intelligence reports on the matter.

In a post on X, US Central Command (Centcom) stated that American forces are undermining the Iranian regime’s ability to project power at sea and to harass international shipping. “For years, Iranian forces have threatened freedom of navigation in waters essential to American, regional and global security and prosperity,” the filing says.
