Alckmin and ministers meet at 5pm with fuel distributors

The vice-president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, and the ministers of the Civil House, Rui Costa; of Justice, Wellington César; and Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, in addition to the executive secretary of Finance, Dario Durigan, will meet this Thursday afternoon (12) with representatives of the largest private fuel distributors – responsible for around 70% of the private market in Brazil.

The meeting will take place at 5pm at the MME headquarters. Representatives from the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon), from the Ministry of Justice, were also invited. This week, the body asked the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) to analyze the recent increases in fuel prices in four states (Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul) and the Federal District.

Representatives of state unions reported that distributors raised sales prices for gas stations under the justification of a rise in the international price of oil, due to the conflict in the Middle East.
