The Polish head of diplomacy claims that Iran did not pose a direct threat to Europe before the attack by the US and Israel. At the same time, he excludes Warsaw’s participation in the war.
According to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Iran did not pose a direct threat to Europe before the attack by Israel and the United States. Sikorski also stated that Poland has no plans to join the war in the Middle East. TASR informs about it according to the Politico portal.
“The United States and Israel, of course, have their own assessment of the situation, but I personally did not see any direct threat to the US or Europe, not even to Israel,” Sikorski said in an interview with the daily Rzeczpospolita published on Thursday.
Preventive wars
The US and Israel described their attack on Iran as preventive. According to Sikorský, such wars can sometimes be justified. The minister argued that if a preventive war had been waged against Nazi Germany, “the world would have avoided a lot of suffering.”
In the interview, he emphasized that Warsaw would not participate in the war. “There is currently a war on our borders, an aggressive Russia with an imperial state ideology is sending drones into our airspace. We have a lot of problems to deal with right next door,” he explained.
Linking conflicts
However, according to him, the two wars are connected, and Iran has identified itself as Russia’s ally in the “Tehran-Moscow axis of evil.”
“On both battlefields, civilian targets are being hit by the same type of weapon coming from the same source,” he said.
