Meanwhile, the Russian document, which “intentionally” did not mention any country with the aim of finding “consensus”, only had the support of 4 of the 15 members of the body (Russia, China, Somalia and Pakistan), with Latvia and the United States voting against and 9 abstentions, including France, the United Kingdom and Colombia.

The approved document, presented by Bahrain on behalf of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, “demands” Iran to “immediately and unconditionally put an end to any provocation or threat against neighboring States.”
The resolution, which before the vote had the support of 135 countries, including the United States and Israel, as well as the United Kingdom, France or , calls on the Persian country to comply “fully with its obligations under international law” and defends “the territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence” of the affected countries.
The Bahraini ambassador to the UN, Jamal Alrowaiei, stated that this result demonstrates the “firmness” of the international community in the face of “Iran’s unjust and hostile attacks.”

The text introduced by Russia, which did not single out any country as an aggressor and only had four general points, called on “all parties” to “immediately cease their military activities and refrain from further escalation in and beyond.”
The Russian ambassador asked the rest of the countries to approve this document, “aimed at urgently calming the situation.”
Although the majority of states with the right to vote abstained, the United States ambassador to the UN, justified his opposition after accusing Russia of acting to “protect its partner, Iran.” The ambassador of Latvia, Sanita Pavluta-Deslandes, charged against Moscow for being “an aggressor country.”
The Israeli representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, intervened at the end of the session to justify the joint operation with Washington as a response to Iran’s 47 years as an Islamic Republic, during which, according to him, they have killed thousands of civilians and engaged in threats.
The bombings in Iran, originating after the joint attack by the US and Israel on February 28, have already claimed the lives of thousands of civilians, in addition to that of its then supreme leader, the Ayatollah, and a large part of its military leadership.
The Red Crescent and Iranian Ambassador Iravani stated that at least 1,332 civilians have died in attacks in 636 locations in the country since the bombing began, although they have not updated the death toll for days.
