Mariana, from New York, USA, had no other problems before, apart from anemia, with which she had been fighting for years. In March 2024, she noticed that her belly had started to grow, which she initially attributed to just gaining weight. But when she couldn’t get rid of the problem even after her appetite decreased, she understood that something was wrong. “It reminded me of the bloating I get during my period. The young American woman went to the hospital, where she underwent a series of blood tests, an abdominal ultrasound and a stool analysis. I had a hard time coping with this diagnosis and I wanted this nightmare to end. I thought about whether I could have prevented it somehow, but my biggest fear was that I would die” Mariana admitted.
In order to save her life, she had no choice but to undergo a bowel resection and emergency surgery, during which both her ovaries were removed. In addition, he has to undergo chemotherapy every two weeks. “I was very sad for a long time because now I won’t be able to have my own children. Nevertheless, I am extremely grateful that the tumor was removed,” remarked Mariana.
Currently, Marian’s condition is considered stable, but she will likely live with cancer forever. The young woman revealed that in the future she may have to undergo one more operation so that the doctors can completely remove all the remnants of this disease.
“The diagnosis made me reevaluate my priorities and how I want to spend the rest of my life. I have fear every day, but I have decided not to let it define me. I want to see my nieces and nephews grow up, get married, and I want to really live“, she concluded.
