Former president Jair Bolsonaro showed an improvement in his clinical condition in the last 24 hours, according to a medical bulletin released this Monday (16) by the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, where he remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to a statement from the medical team, there was a recovery in kidney function and a partial improvement in inflammatory markers, indicators used to monitor the evolution of infections in the body.
Despite the clinical evolution, Bolsonaro remains hospitalized and there is still no expected discharge, according to the hospital.
Pneumonia treatment
The former president was hospitalized last Friday (13), after being diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia resulting from an episode of bronchoaspiration.
Since then, he has been treated with antibiotics and remains under constant monitoring by the medical team. According to the bulletin, the partial reduction in inflammatory markers indicates that the body is responding to the treatment adopted.
The hospitalization occurs while Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year prison sentence for his involvement in the attempted coup d’état. The former president is being held in the General Staff room of the 19th Military Police Battalion, in the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, in Brasília, known as “Papudinha”.
