“Boy, I’m not here to be vice-governor”, was how Tiao Bocalom responded when asked if he would run for election as vice-governor, in a possible alliance with fellow pre-candidate Alan Rick. The statement was given in this (16).
Bocalom also confirmed that he is holding talks with the national leadership of the PSDB and that an outcome regarding his party future could occur soon.
“This is already the third conversation we have had with the national PSDB. Tomorrow, for sure, it should be a definitive one, because we have to define it soon”, he stated.
According to the mayor, the decision also involves the formation of slates for federal and state deputies, which requires a quick definition within the political scenario.
When commenting on the possibility of returning to the PSDB, Bocalom highlighted the historical relationship with the party, where he built part of his political trajectory.
“That party was the one that welcomed me for six elections. We won two elections in Acrelândia and contested others here in Rio Branco. The PSDB has always been the party that welcomed us very well”, he declared.
Despite conversations with the toucans, the mayor said he regretted the departure of the Liberal Party (PL), a party linked to former president Jair Bolsonaro.
“Of course I wanted to stay in the PL, there’s no discussion. It’s my president Bolsonaro’s party. But that doesn’t mean that, by leaving the PL, I stop supporting our Bolsonaro team”, he stated.
