Macron is an 8, but the USA doesn’t need anyone, says Trump

North American President said that France can help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but that it is not a “perfect” ally

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), said this Monday (16.Mar.2026) that his French counterpart, Macron (Renaissance, center) has been an ally “use 8” on issues related to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. According to the representative, the French government “not perfect”and Washington “doesn’t need anyone.”

“I don’t really push for them to join us, because my stance is that we don’t need anyone. We are the strongest nation in the world. We have the most powerful military in the world. I almost do that because I want to find out how they react.”he stated during an interview with journalists.

During an event organized with the board of the Kennedy Center cultural institute, the president stated that he spoke with Macron on Sunday (15 March). According to him, the United States does not expect an alliance “perfect” with France for war with Iran.

Trump also criticized the United Kingdom’s stance in the conflict, as the British government only offered to send warships after the start of the offensive. He also said he questioned the Prime Minister (Labor Party, center-left) for consulting his team before making a decision regarding possible military support.

“I said, ‘You don’t need to meet with your team. You’re the prime minister, you can make the decision yourself. Why do you need to meet with your team to decide whether you’re going to send something? Minesweepers or some ships?'”he stated.

When talking about the relationship with NATO allies (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), the North American president said that the United States – at the time under the administration of Joe Biden (Democratic Party) – “they didn’t need it” having helped Ukraine in the war against Russia. He then criticized the bloc for refusing to help Washington in military operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
