The Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, announced this Sunday the beginning of an operation to “immediately” destroy the bridges over the Litani River which serves as a barrier, after denouncing that they are being used by Hezbollah militias to transport combat equipment, as well as the surrounding populations “following the Rafah model” in the Gaza Strip.
Israel has accelerated this week, the primary objective of the Israeli Army, which pursues the creation of an exclusion zone with northern Israel, the target of attacks by the Shiite party militias.
In an appearance issued this Sunday, Katz announced that both he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have given orders to “immediately destroy all bridges over the Litani River that are being used to carry out terrorist activities to prevent the transit of Hezbollah terrorists and their weapons to the south.”
Katz has also announced that he has instructed the Army to “accelerate the destruction of Lebanese homes on the line of contact, to thwart threats to Israeli communities, according to the Beit Hanun and Rafah model“, two towns in the northeast and south of the Gaza Strip, currently under Israeli control.
The Defense Minister has repeated the forced evacuation order issued at the time by Israel, which urges all residents south of the Litani to immediately leave the area to settle north of the river.
