Among the statistics presented by the gaucho are the reduction in intentional homicides of 44% between 2019, when he assumed his first term, and 2025. The reduction was from 1,860 per year to 1,037.
In relation to lethal violent crimes, the drop was 40% and, in the case of robberies, 57%, from 71 to 30. Femicides fell from 97 to 80 (17%).
Leite also uses the lowest cell phone theft rate in Brazil in 2024 to his advantage, with 27.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, in addition to favorable numbers on police lethality. The rate of 141 deaths by police in 2024 fell to 80 last year, a reduction of 43%.
The numbers are among the arguments he presented to the national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab, who will make the final decision. Leite has already stated that he does not intend to apply for any other position if he is passed over in the candidacy.
