The state of had a 3.6% drop in cases in January and February this year compared to the same period in 2025. There were 2,397 occurrences compared to 2,487 records in 2025.
The data is part of the statistics of the SSP (Public Security Secretariat), in management (Republicans).
Much of this drop is due to the reduction in cases of rape of vulnerable people.
Delegate Cristiane Braga, coordinator of the DDMs (Women’s Defense Police Stations), says that combating this type of crime has infrastructure challenges, cultural factors and underreporting of episodes of .
According to the delegate, São Paulo has 143 DDMs, in addition to 173 rooms and two IML rooms so that victims can, in a private manner, narrate the facts. The lilac room is reserved for specialized assistance in domestic incidents.
“The reduction in rates represents an important advance. The Civil Police rigorously investigates all cases, holds perpetrators accountable and, above all, guarantees reception and protection for victims”, says the delegate.
