TAP resumes flights between Portugal and Venezuela after months of suspension

TAP resumed regular flights between Portugal and Venezuela this Friday. Flights had been suspended since November last year.

The first flight left this Friday, at 12 pm, heading to Caracas. Four months later, family members say goodbye again with some concern.

It is the case that Andreína Fernandes who took her grandmother to Lisbon airport.

“She stayed here in Portugal because she came on vacation for the girl’s birthday. She had planned to return on November 25th, but the flight was cancelled,” he reported.

Flights suspended due to tension between Venezuela and the United States now meet airspace security conditions. The months of waiting made returning home an emotional day.

Earlier this year, a US military operation, which resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, paved the way for the gradual reopening of Venezuelan airspace.
