Italian police have arrested the head of a Neapolitan mafia clan who was hiding in a luxury villa on the Amalfi Coast. He is accused of murder.

Italian police announced on Saturday that they had arrested a mafia boss accused of murder on the Amalfi Coast. Roberto Mazzarella, as the head of one of the Camorra clans based in Naples, was arrested in the city of Vietri sul Mare. TASR informs about it according to the AFP agency.

Mazzarella “was staying in a luxury villa on the Amalfi Coast and did not resist arrest,” the police said in a statement. He was there with his wife and two children.

A mobster on the run

He has been on the run since January 28, 2025, when an arrest warrant was issued for him on charges of murder. The Mazzarello clan is known for its involvement in counterfeiting money in Naples.

Last month, police arrested another 16 people allegedly linked to the Mazzarello clan on cyber fraud charges.
