Father of BBB participant Ana Paula Renault is hospitalized in BH

Former politician, Gerardo Henrique Machado Renault, aged 96, has been suffering from dehydration in recent days, as well as a urinary infection

Gerardo Henrique Machado Renault, father of Ana Paula Renault, was hospitalized on Friday (3), at Hospital Felício Rocho, in the Central-South Region of Belo Horizonte. The information was released by the LeoDias portal.

Estadão contacted the BBB 26 participant’s team and the hospital and is awaiting a response.

According to the journalist’s team, the 96-year-old former politician presented a dehydration board in the last few days. Information published by the same portal also points out that the hospitalization is also related to a urinary infectionaccompanied by mental confusiona common condition in the elderly.

This is Gerardo’s second hospitalization since his daughter began participating in the reality show. In February, Ana Paula revealed inside the house that she almost quit the program because of her father’s health at the end of 2025.

During confinement, Ana Paula commented that she maintains a close relationship with her father. According to the journalist, he was the one who encouraged her to accept the invitation to return to the reality show.

Political trajectory

Born in Belo Horizonte, Gerardo Henrique Machado Renault was born in 1929 and built career in politics. Graduated in Legal and Social Sciences from the University of Minas Gerais, he worked in student movement before entering public life.

He was councilor of Belo Horizonte between 1951 and 1966, a period in which he participated in international commissions and representations. He then acted as state deputy of Minas Gerais between 1967 and 1979, when he participated in the drafting of the state Constitution and of development projects.

In 1979, he was elected federal deputya position he held until 1983. He also assumed the State Department of Agriculture during the government of Francelino Pereira. Throughout his career, he was part of commissions linked to rural policy and to agricultural development.

After leaving elected office, he continued to serve as attorney in Belo Horizonte and, in 1991, he was elected President of the Pension Institute of the Legislature of Minas Geraisa role he maintains to this day.
