The Iranian authorities confirmed this Monday the death of the head of Intelligence of the country’s Revolutionary Guard, Majid Jademi, in an attack carried out by the United States and Israel within the framework of the offensive launched at the end of February and which has already left more than 2,000 dead in the country.
“Jademi has achieved the grace of martyrdom in a criminal terrorist attack by the American-Zionist enemy during the early hours of today,” the Revolutionary Guard said in a statement carried by the Iranian television network IRIB.
Thus, he has described his actions as “great” and “exemplary” after almost half a century of “service to the country”, while noting that his role “will serve as a guide for the Iranian Intelligence community.”
“During almost half a century of honest and courageous defense of the revolution, the distinguished general has made important, lasting and instructive contributions in the fields of Intelligence and security, which can serve as a guide for the country’s intelligence community for many years to come, especially in confronting foreign enemies at the strategic level and their sinister and evil plans to infiltrate and destabilize the security and peace of Iran,” he stated.
After the 12 Day War
Jademi had been appointed head of Revolutionary Guard Intelligence in June 2025. His predecessor was Mohamad Kazemi, one of the senior military officials eliminated during the 12-day war also launched by the United States and Israel against Iran and which took place in the summer.
In August last year, Jademi urged parliament to prioritize the completion of a national intranet, saying it was necessary to “safeguard the sovereignty” of Iranian cyberspace. Iran remains under an internet blackout since the war began on February 28, although some national websites and apps remain accessible within the country.
In February, following deadly anti-government protests that began in December over the high cost of essential goods, the assassinated man accused US President Donald Trump of fueling what Iranian officials have described as a “staged murder” strategy, aimed at increasing casualties to justify foreign military intervention.
During that time, Jademi claimed that more than ten foreign intelligence services, including the Israeli intelligence and cyberwarfare unit 8200, participated in the protests that spread throughout Iran. According to the US news agency Human Rights Activists News Agency, at least 7,000 people have died in the repression since the last week of last December.
To date, Iranian authorities put the death toll from the offensive at 2,076, of which 216 are minors. For its part, the Iranian Red Crescent has reported that the bombings have destroyed or damaged more than 100,000 civilian buildings, almost 40,000 of them in Tehran, the capital. In addition, some 600 schools and almost 300 health centers have been hit in the four weeks of bombing.
