Current runner-up, Palmeiras debuts in the Libertadores against Junior-COL

O Palmeiras faces Junior Barranquillafrom Colombia, this Wednesday (8), at 9:30 pm, for the first round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. Verdão is the current runner-up, having lost to Flamengo in the 2025 decision.

Seeking to reverse the situation and lift the cup for the fourth time, the team led by coach Abel Ferreira will take the field in Cartagena, Colombia, defending the greatest number of victories in the history of the Libertadores considering all opponents on the continent.

In addition to Palmeiras and Junior, Cerro Porteño-PAR and Sporting Cristal-PER are part of Group F.

Verdão qualified for the competition because it came in second place in Series A of the Brazilian Championship last year.

How does Palmeiras arrive?

Driven by the leadership of the Brasileirão and the recent title of the Campeonato Paulista, the team is on the rise and unbeaten in five games.

Physically reconditioning and under load control, striker Paulinho participated in all training with the group this week. Meanwhile, fellow striker Vitor Roque follows an individual schedule and did separate work on the pitch under the supervision of the Health and Performance Center.

However, both should not yet be related, although they are close to returning to play for Verdão.
