More than 15 countries plan to facilitate access to Hormuz, says Macron

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, said that around 15 countries planned to facilitate resumption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuzthrough which a fifth of the world’s oil supply normally passes, following the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran .

“Around 15 countries are currently mobilized and participating in planning, under the leadership of France, to enable the implementation of this strictly defensive mission in coordination with Iran, in order to facilitate the resumption of air traffic,” Macron said on Wednesday (8), at the beginning of his defense meeting with advisors and members of his cabinet.

Macron stated which welcomed the , but added that the situation in Lebanon remained critical and called for Lebanon to be included in the agreement. A France maintains close ties with the Lebanona former protectorate.

Our desire, in this context, is to ensure that the ceasefire fully includes Lebanon,” said Macron.
