“The meeting went well, most points were agreed, but the only point that really mattered, nuclear energy, was not”, he declared.
Trump announced that the measure will take effect immediately and will involve the interception of vessels that attempt to transit through the strategic region, one of the main global oil routes.
“Effective immediately, the United States Navy will begin the process of blocking all ships attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
The president accused Iran of creating a scenario of uncertainty in the region by suggesting the presence of naval mines, which, according to him, constitutes a form of international pressure.

“Iran did not allow this to happen by simply saying, ‘There might be a mine out there somewhere.’ This is global extortion, and the United States will never be extorted,” he said.

Trump also declared that he authorized actions against vessels that made payments to the Iranian government to transit through the area.
“I have instructed our Navy to search for and intercept all vessels in international waters that have paid tolls to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas,” he said.
In addition to the blockade, the president indicated that American forces will act directly to remove threats in the strait.
