The 44-year-old singer was arrested in early March in Ventura County, near Los Angeles, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was released shortly afterwards.

At the time, a representative for Spears classified the incident as “totally unjustifiable” and stated that the artist would take “appropriate measures” and comply with the law, according to the entertainment website Deadline.

On Sunday, several American media outlets reported that Britney had voluntarily checked herself into a treatment center. It was not immediately clear when the singer arrived at the scene.

According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, the artist has a hearing scheduled in court on May 4 as a result of the arrest.

In her 2023 memoir, Spears insisted that she never took hard drugs or had a problem with alcohol, but admitted that she took the medication Adderall for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
