Singer Britney Spears, 44, is admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in the United States, according to TMZ. The decision was made about a month after the artist was arrested for drunk driving.
According to sources heard by the North American portal, the voice of “Toxic” voluntarily decided to be hospitalized after being convinced by family and people close to him. “She realized she had hit rock bottom,” one of the sources reportedly told TMZ.
The publication also states that Britney Spears has been dealing with alcohol and adderall addiction for years, and often travels to Mexico to replenish her supply of the medication prescribed for ADHD. In Brazil, Anvisa prohibits the sale of this medicine precisely because of the high risk of chemical dependency.
The hospitalization is part of a strategy to convince the judge in the case that Britney is making an effort to deal with the illness. Sources linked to the singer had already told TMZ that if the court suggested this as an option.
Shortly before the arrest, the singer had fired all of her employees.
