So far, nothing links Lulinha to embezzlement of INSS resources, says Edinho Silva

The INSS CPMI rapporteur, who investigates the fraud, tried to indict the president’s son, but the text was rejected by members of the commission

The national president of the PT, Edinho Silva, once again stated on Sunday (12), that the son of the president of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, has no connection whatsoever with undue discounts for beneficiaries of the National Social Security Institute (INSS).

“It was President Lula who asked to investigate all the allegations in the INSS case. So far, nothing links Lulinha to the embezzlement of INSS resources. They broke confidentiality, investigated and nothing links him to the embezzlement of resources, but he is the son of the President of the Republic and ends up paying the price for it”, he stated during an interview with Band’s Canal Livre program.

The aforementioned investigations involve suspicions of undue discounts on benefits for INSS retirees and pensioners, an issue that has been the subject of investigation by control bodies and the National Congress.

The INSS Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) was created to investigate the case. The breach of confidentiality cited by Edinho refers to measures authorized within the scope of investigations, which allow access to banking and tax data to verify Lulinha’s involvement in fraud.

The president of the commission, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), presented a report asking that Lulinha be indicted, but the text was rejected in a vote by the commission members.
