British Queen Elizabeth II. according to the American journalist Susan Page, she should have been worried about the actions of the then British Prime Minister David Cameron in connection with Brexit. She clearly did not agree with the country’s withdrawal from the EU, and she did not like Cameron’s support for Brexit either.
In a book called The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History, Page claims that the late monarch expressed her reservations during lunch with US President Barack Obama at Windsor Castle in April 2016, shortly after his ninetieth birthday. This was a period of two months after Cameron announced a referendum on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
Page reports that the Queen was not only wary of Brexit, but also “concerned about the way David Cameron approached it – which is a very rare criticism of the Queen directed at the Prime Minister, either in public or in private.’ According to the book, she was said to have added: “It is difficult to understand why a Prime Minister who presumably understands politics would bring forward a public referendum on such an important matter without knowing what the outcome will be.”
The publication also reports that the Queen has been confused by the rise of Donald Trump. During the same visit, she was to ask Obama: “Why is this person so close to leading your country?”
According to available information, Trump did not meet the queen until about a year and a half after the beginning of his presidential mandate. In April of this year, Karol III would have and Queen Camilla leave for a state visit to the United States, which is to include a gala state dinner at the White House.
