President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) spoke for the first time after sending the government’s bill that ends the 6×1 scale to the National Congress. In a publication on X, the president declared that the measure gives back time to workers and represents a step towards a fairer country.
“The proposal gives back time to workers: time to watch their children grow, for leisure, for rest and for family life. A step towards a fairer country with a better quality of life for everyone”, stated Lula.
The president also classified the sending of the message as “an important day for the dignity of the family and of those who build Brazil every day”.
Lula also gave already known details of the project: the end of the six-day work schedule and one rest day and the reduction of the weekly working day from 44 to 40 hours.
Lula pointed out that the project was sent with constitutional urgency, which obliges the Chamber to vote on the text in 45 days and the Senate, also in 45 days. Otherwise, the legislative agenda will be blocked.
