President of the INSS CPI criticizes STF saying that ministers have political activity

Senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), president of the INSS CPI, criticized this Wednesday, 15th, the actions of the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and stated that the Court is taking on a political role. During the Casa Parliament event, promoted by Esfera Brasil in Brasília, Viana declared that he believes that “today we have a political Supreme Court”.

“Unfortunately, the Supreme Court treats him as a friend and as an enemy,” said Viana. “He does not have the ability to control himself, to have a code of ethics that is respected”, he added. For Viana, “it is not possible for a minister to make a monocratic decision and stop almost 600 parliamentarians who were elected”. He defended that this type of deliberation be restricted to collegiate groups. “The Senate has the obligation to re-discuss this relationship between the Powers,” he stated.

According to him, Congress is the main one affected by the STF’s interference as it lost its protagonism: “The key to the Senate was handed over to the Supreme Court and no one went there to get it until today”.

This Wednesday, Viana delivered the final report of the INSS CPI to the Supreme Court. According to Viana, the material will be attached to ongoing investigations and analyzed by authorities, including the Federal Police. The material was passed on to ministers Luiz Fux and André Mendonça. “We handed over here to the Federal Supreme Court everything that, in seven months, we managed to show Brazil about this absurd theft of Social Security”, he said after leaving the place.
