April Fair: Miuras in their purest form | Culture

Like every year, at the closing of the April Fair, the Miura bulls strive to show that they are different. At first, their face and their volume give them away; They go out into the ring surprised by the unknown environment, they attack the capes without losing sight of the bullfighter’s body, they go to the horses with violence, they do not offer confidence in banderillas, and in the final third they can be outcast, rough, harsh or noble, but never stupid. They all force tension to be maintained and do not allow trust.

Those fought today in Seville, all of great volume and a lot of weight, (between 595 and 679 kilos), have had a varied game in the first third, accomplished in general and outstanding in the fifth and sixth, who humiliatedly pushed the breastplate; first and second, soft and uncertain; third and fourth, nobles in the crutch; The fifth one was very abrupt, just like the one who closed the place.

In other words, you have to have a lot of character to advertise with these bulls. The three bullfighters have offered a lesson in bravery, and have earned their salary – presumably it will be fair – with the sweat of their brow.

The best winner has been , an admirable and proven professional who received his two miuras on their knees in the media; He flagged both of them correctly, and in the two muleta tasks he played his part, brave, firm, dedicated and with plenty of knowledge. His first, dull and surly, allowed him some estimable muletazos with both hands, but the brilliance did not shine due to the ugly style of his opponent. The fourth offered the best condition, with a nobler and more temperate attack; After surprising the prone with a couple at the break stuck to boards, Escribano began the muleta task with two passes exchanged from behind, and several rounds of warm and long muleta blows that, although they did not provoke enthusiasm, left evidence of the dedication and honor of this bullfighter. A good lunge was the culmination that allowed him to walk with a trophy.

for his part, lost the ear of the third because he failed with the sword; Veronica had gladly speared a bull that moved throughout the fight with temperance and nobility, qualities that allowed the bullfighter to show it off at length and draw meritorious naturals, and three right hands, at the end of his work, that had a lot of depth; but he punctured twice and the prize disappeared.

He tried again with the sixth, a very difficult bull, which struggled and searched in the space of a coin. Román did not lose face, very dedicated all afternoon, but his solvent attitude was not enough to mobilize the supporters.

And, who already succeeded last year with this livestock, he took the worst batch and left empty-handed. He waited for the second of the afternoon on his knees in front of bullpens, and had to endure what was unbearable because the bull acted absent-minded and took a while to come to meet him. They returned him as an invalid; and he prostrated himself again in the same way to receive the hat, a turkey weighing 679 kilos and enormous seriousness. After a long change, he prescribed eight speedwells that tasted amazing. He offered Morale to the respectable, but between the annoying wind and the uncertain behavior of the bull, always with his face held high, he could not draw a lucid work. And the fifth, the bravest on the horse, developed an obvious danger in the last third and the bullfighter’s illusions faded.

After all, a Miura run in its purest form; smart bulls, soft, rough, with a touch of violence, fierce and, generally, very complicated for today’s bullfighting despite the nobility of some. They are different…
