DF leads in transparency about public employee remuneration

Study was carried out by Transparência Brasil and analyzed data from 53 public entities, including States and capitals

The Federal District occupies 1st place in the national ranking of transparency of public employee remunerations, with a score of 0.89. The information is contained in a study released on April 22, 2026 by civil society organizations specialized in social control.

The result places the DF ahead of federative units such as Pernambuco, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, which also appear among the best evaluated. The survey carried out by analyzed data from 53 public entities, including States and capitals, considering criteria such as ease of access to information and level of detail in the data disclosed. In practice, performance reflects a model of transparency that allows citizens to consult, in a clear and accessible way, how much the government pays its public servants.

The study highlights that the quality of information and ease of access are essential to strengthen social control and increase the population’s trust in public institutions.

On the DF Transparency Portal, the search for employee compensation leads the hits, 70% on the web version and 88% on the mobile version. In March this year, the Transparency Portal also had a record number of hits, reaching more than 1.4 million.

While the DF appears in the lead, the national scenario still presents challenges. A significant portion of the entities evaluated did not achieve minimum levels of transparency, which reinforces the importance of initiatives that expand access to public data and improve accountability.

The survey also indicates ways to advance transparency, such as publishing data in open formats, standardizing information and expanding the details of paychecks. Measures that, according to the study, directly contribute to improving the supervision and efficiency of public spending.
