Shakira in Rio: fans gather on the beach in a class to dance “Waka Waka”

Less than a week before Todo Mundo no Rio, several fans of singer Shakira, 49, gathered on Copacabana Beach to have a dance class and rehearse the choreography for “Waka Waka”.

The moment was recorded by Shakira Brasil, a Colombian in the country, who has around 1.2 million followers on Instagram.

“Waka Waka” is one of the biggest hits of the artist’s career and was released as the official song of 2010. As the event was based in South Africa, the song brings together a series of languages spoken in the country.

The Colombian will perform next Saturday (2) in a show already dubbed “Lobacabana” by the singer herself, following in the footsteps of Lady Gaga in 2025 and Madonna in 2024.

Record-sized stage

Bônus Track, official producer of Todo Mundo no Rio, confirmed to CNN that the structure will now have an area of 1,500 m², instead of the 1,345 m² previously announced.

From the base to the top, the walkway will be 25 meters long. Along the entire beach, the organization will spread 16 LED screens measuring 45 m² with sound.

“To facilitate the view of those on site, the stage will be 2.20 meters high from the base in the sand”, said Luiz Guilherme Niemeyer, partner at Bonus Track.

Around 10 tons of equipment for Shakira’s show arrived at RIOgaleão Cargo, the cargo terminal at Tom Jobim International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro. The material arrived in the operations of two different airlines — Atlas and American Airlines — and went to Copacabana.
