Trump backed down after war with Iran, now begs for negotiations. Tehran claims that the US has not met a single goal

Iran’s foreign minister claims that the US did not meet its goals in the war, and that is why Trump is asking for negotiations. Tehran is now considering resuming dialogue with Washington.

The United States has not achieved its goals in the war against Iran, which is why US President Donald Trump is now asking for negotiations. This was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi during his visit to Russia on Monday. According to him, Tehran is currently considering the possibility of resuming negotiations with the USA. It was reported by the TASS agency, writes TASR.

  • In the conflict with Iran, the United States did not meet the stated military goals.
  • Iran’s foreign minister has announced that he is considering resuming negotiations with Washington.
  • Vladimir Putin promised Iran the continuation of strategic relations and support for peace.

Arákči met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, who confirmed to Iran the continuation of strategic relations and promised to do everything to ensure that peace prevails in the Middle East.

Iran reacts to Trump

In a later interview with Russian state television reporter Pavel Zarubin, according to TASS, the head of Iranian diplomacy commented on the fact that Trump called himself the winner of the war.

“Then why is he asking for negotiations? It is clear that Iran is up against the world’s biggest superpower, (which) has not achieved any of its goals. That is why (Trump) is asking for negotiations, and we are now considering this option,” Arákchi said.

The last direct talks between the US and Iran, brokered by Pakistan, were held in Islamabad on April 11. However, they ended without reaching an agreement due to the different positions of the parties, especially on the issue of Iran’s nuclear program.

The dispute over the nuclear program

Among other things, the US is demanding that the Islamic Republic renounce its alleged efforts to acquire a nuclear weapon, while Tehran says its program is for civilian purposes only.

In order to create space for the continuation of peace negotiations, the head of the White House announced last week that the United States is extending the ceasefire with Iran indefinitely.

Trump canceled the planned trip of his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Islamabad this Saturday and said that if Tehran wants to negotiate, he can call Washington. On Monday, Arákchi blamed the United States for the failure of the talks that took place in Pakistan earlier in April.
