Haddad: only brainwashing explains Lula and Flávio’s tie – 05/01/2026 – Politics

Pre-candidate for the Government of São Paulo, the former Minister of Finance () said that the technical tie between (PT) and (-RJ) in recent electoral polls can only be explained by “collective brainwashing”.

He also stated that he will adopt a “7×0 scale”, that is, every day of the week, for the campaign for the president’s re-election.

“What is being said here in the electoral polls is unacceptable. The contrast is so great, so great, that only collective brainwashing explains a possible comparison between these two presidents in the history of Brazil,” he said, referring to the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Flávio’s father.

Datafolha research released on the 11th shows that Lula was numerically surpassed for the first time by (), who reached 46% compared to 45% for the PT member, a technical tie given the margin of error of two points.

Haddad participated in the morning of the May 1st event of Força Sindical, in Liberdade, in São Paulo, in which those present came out in defense of the end of the 6×1 scale.

“Now we will fight for the 5 by 2, 40 hour journey [de trabalho por semana, como proposto pelo governo]and we will fight on the 7-0 journey to re-elect President Lula, because we will not rest until we see, in October, a horizon ahead that is not the disaster that was the previous government”, said Haddad.

Haddad told journalists, after his speech, that Flávio’s growth in the polls is the result of misinformation. “Whenever a campaign comes, they [da direita] they try to omit, they try to confuse public opinion, but in the end, what is at stake is always the sale of public assets on one side and the cutting of social rights on the other”.

The PT member cited Rogério Marinho’s interview with Sheetin which Flávio’s pre-campaign coordinator plans to revisit labor and pension reforms.

“The citizen most harmed by the extreme right’s agenda is the worker. The worker is the central target of those who seek to remove rights immediately. You saw Senator Rogério Marinho’s speech the other day, denied by candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, but investigated by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. The target is health and education, minimum wage, income tax, continues to be their traditional gateway.”

Alongside the former ministers (Rede) and (PSB), the pre-candidate for governor also said that he or President Lula will not be the ones to define who the names put forward by the Senate ticket in São Paulo will be. In addition to Marina and Tebet, former minister Márcio França (PSB) put himself forward as a pre-candidate for senator.

“There is no imposition, and people are putting themselves [como pré-candidatas]. They also have the right to have their wishes, which must be respected. So we will take all this into consideration and we will reach a common denominator in the coming weeks, but without rushing,” he said.

The line was endorsed by Tebet, who is from the same party as France.

“The important thing is this: it’s not me, it’s not President Lula, it’s not Haddad, nor Marina, nor Márcio who are going to decide individually. We’re going to sit at a table, at a table of communion and we’re going to work together”, he stated.
