Government agonizes, but does not die – 05/02/2026 – Dora Kramer

The overturning of a nomination by the President of the Republic is an act that reinforces and encourages the opposition. But to say that this seals a fate of misfortune for Luiz Inácio da Silva () in the election, there is a distance of effects to be measured by the circumstances.

The popular metaphor of clouds in politics has rarely been as true as in the current season. has a history of ups and downs, an oscillation from which it has shown the ability to successfully escape.

The opposition would be well advised to consider that there are still leagues to travel before resting on the laurels of presumed victory. The president descends a few more steps in controlling the government, but the government is not over simply because it is there, in possession of powerful instruments.

The question is whether you will know how or whether you will be able to use them without exceeding legal limits that make you more complicated. Lula has time and space to awaken from the illusion that he is the strongman of the Peixoto neighborhood of yore, but perhaps he can still count on the lucky status that made him escape skirmishes such as the Mensalão and the conviction in .

Just like Nestor from “Antonico”, the president finds himself in great difficulties; he is really “dancing on a tightrope”, as in Ismael Silva’s composition. But the game is not lost due to recent defeats in Congress.

A place is not guaranteed for a government candidate, be it Lula or a possible replacement, as is speculated, without taking into account that he is not a man to give up; Until now, he has always preferred the forward flight dynamic.

This time, by insisting on facing (União-AP) and company in the Supreme Court, he made a mistake in the calculation. The field of equivocation, however, is not for the exclusive use of the president. His opponents also travel through this terrain, as demonstrated by the mistakes in (‘s) campaign.

Lula’s real problem isn’t even losing; is winning without the strength to govern for another four years.
