Mining increased by 216% in the year compared to 2024; had a share of 29% of the total, almost equivalent to that of electricity
Chinese investments in Brazil were US$6.1 billion in 2025, according to the (Brazil-China Business Council). There was an increase of 45% over 2024. It was the highest value since the US$ 8.8 billion in 2017.
It was the 4th year of increase, but there was a slowdown. The 2024 increase over 2023 is 113%. The 2025 value was US$1.9 billion higher than the previous year. The one in 2024 had been US$2.2 billion higher. Read the study (PDF – 6 MB).
MINING UP 216%
The Chinese invested US$1.76 billion in the purchase of mining companies in Brazil in 2025. “They were mainly nickel, copper and gold”, said , Director of Content at CEBC.
The value of investment in mining was 216% higher than in 2024. The sector’s share was 29% of the total in the year. It almost tied with 29.5% of electricity, in 1st place.
Brazil is one of the main recipients of Chinese investments in the world along with Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. The CEBC survey only takes into account what is directed to Brazil.

METHODOLOGY
The CEBC monitors news of Chinese investments in the media. Look for companies to check the information. The Central Bank checks the financial origin of investments. There are Chinese companies that bring money from other countries.
ANALYSIS
Chinese investor appetite remains high. But the slowdown shows a lower outlook for Brazil’s economic growth. The attractiveness of mining attests to the country’s competitiveness in the sector. It could be even greater with an increase in mineral research and greater speed in environmental licensing.
