Extraordinary situation in a Slovak village: African swine fever has been reported!

In connection with the occurrence of African swine fever on a farm in the cadastre of the village of Lovča, a state of emergency was declared on the territory of the district of Žiar nad Hronom on Saturday from 6:00 a.m. The village informed about it on the social network.

  • The reason for the emergency situation is the occurrence of African swine fever on the farm.
  • Disinfection of premises and dismantling of wooden structures will take place in the farm area.

As she stated, following the adopted veterinary and safety measures, necessary remedial work will be carried out in the farm area in the coming days, namely disinfection of the farm premises, dismantling of wooden parts of buildings and equipment, felling of low trees and vegetation in the area, including their subsequent disposal by burning, protective spraying with disinfectants with the help of drones, which is scheduled in the following days.

“Please note that although the spraying will be applied exclusively in the area of ​​the farm, the drone raid plan may marginally interfere with the built-up area of ​​the village during the execution of the work, which may cause increased attention of the residents. The spray used is not harmful to humans, pets or wildlife and does not pose a health risk to the population. We ask citizens to respect the measures taken and limit movement in the vicinity of the affected area during the execution of rehabilitation works.” called the village of Lovča.
