Allies of President Lula celebrated on social media the minister’s decision to reject sentence reductions until the STF analyzes actions
President’s allies (PT) celebrated, this Saturday (May 9, 2026), the of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, to suspend the application of the Dosimetry Law.
Congressmen from the government base and former Lula ministers praised the magistrate on social media for not accepting requests to apply the law until the STF judges two actions that the constitutionality of the norm. Until 2:30 pm this Saturday (May 9), Moraes had already denied the application of a sentence reduction in at least 10 criminal actions.
A ex-ministra (PT) criticized Congress’s efforts to Lula’s veto on dosimetry and benefits the former president (PL). “Democracy must rigorously confront any and all coup attempts, including those that arise from spurious agreements to benefit criminals.”
The PT leader in the Chamber, (SC), that the decision preserves legal certainty and prevents a “tailor-made legislative change” reduce the sentences of people who attacked democracy: “Congress can legislate, but it cannot use the law as a shield for those who tried to carry out a coup d’état.”

(PT-RJ), who led the PT in the Chamber until February, said that the suspension is a “Victory of the Constitution against the attempt to transform Congress into a shield for coup plotters”.
The deputy also criticized the movement of congressmen to approve the law: “The agreement between the extreme right and Centrão wanted to guarantee impunity via legislative shortcut. The STF placed the constitutional brake.”

The former minister and now deputy (PT-SP) said that Moraes was right in his decision. “The overturning of the veto on the PL was a violation of the rules”wrote on X.

The deputy (Psol-RJ) said that Moraes’ decision reaffirms the STF’s commitment to democracy: “Scammers have no chance here.” The congressman’s party is the author of one of the actions that question the constitutionality of dosimetry in the STF.
