The São Paulo Court ordered on Tuesday (12) the preventive detention of the man at home in Itaim Paulista, in the east zone of the capital of São Paulo. The son was found dead on Monday night (11).
According to the testimony of the father, Chris Douglas, the 11-year-old child was kept chained to prevent him from escaping, according to the father’s statement; family members will be held accountable for omission and involvement in the crime.
The Military Police reported that the death was confirmed by Samu, who found signs of torture on the victim’s body.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) stated that “other family members who were aware of the situation are also being investigated”. According to the police report, Douglas’ mother and her partner – the victim’s stepmother – were at the residence and stated be aware that the father kept the teenager in chains. Furthermore, the boy’s grandmother was also responsible for keep the victim chained.
Expertise and IML were called, and the case was registered as torture in the 50th Police District.
The BO further reported that several electronic objects found at the scene were seized, “such as cell phones, tablets, computers, and will be sent for expert examination”, to collect new evidence.
