One of the most wanted fugitives in the United Kingdom arrested in Alicante, the same day that collaboration was requested to arrest him | Spain

The Civil Guard has arrested Simon Dutton, 49, in Alicante, one of the fugitives included in the international search campaign promoted by the United Kingdom against criminals linked to organized crime. The arrest coincides with the presentation of the international campaign “Most Wanted”, which took place this Thursday in the Alicante capital, the armed institute reports in a statement, and in which Dutton appeared. The Ministry of the Interior and the British National Crime Agency (NCA) have jointly presented the list of 12 fugitives, and have asked for public collaboration to arrest them.

The four arrested in the operation are charged with the crimes of drug trafficking and document falsification and will be brought to justice. The main person under investigation, Dutton, will be placed at the disposal of the National Court to continue with the procedures related to his international claim.

The arrest, the framework of an operation carried out in Benidorm and La Nucía (Alicante) against a network related to drug trafficking and document falsification, in which three other people have been arrested, reports the Civil Guard, which details that the investigation began in November 2025 after receiving a notice from the person in charge of a parcel delivery establishment in Benidorm, where a suitcase containing 16 kilograms of hashish and whose final destination was the United Kingdom was located.

The initial investigations led to the identification of the woman who made the shipment, who had provided false documentation when making the request. The investigators also verified that she went to the establishment accompanied by another person and with the logistical support of two other men, who carried the suitcase to the premises.
