The United States government published this Friday (22) a new batch of official documents about unidentified aerial phenomena, including reports from military and civilians who claimed to have seen “green orbs”, flying saucers and fireballs near American military installations.
The disclosure was made by the US Department of Defense as part of the policy of opening files on so-called UAPs, an acronym in English for “unidentified anomalous phenomena”.
The material was released months after President Donald Trump’s determination to increase transparency about historic cases investigated by the American government.
According to the Pentagon, the new files include 222 documents, as well as images and videos related to episodes considered to have no conclusive explanation by American authorities.
Among the documents released is a 116-page report on incidents recorded between 1948 and 1950 around Sandia, a top-secret military installation located in the state of New Mexico.
According to the Department of Defense, the file contains 209 reports involving “green spheres”, “discs” and “fireballs” observed near the military base.

The investigations took place during the first years of the Cold War, a period in which the United States expanded military and nuclear tests in desert regions of the American West.
The Pentagon did not present a definitive conclusion about the episodes recorded in the material released.
Apollo 12 astronauts
Another excerpt from the documents deals with records linked to the mission Apollo 12 Moon Landing. According to the files, astronauts Charles “Pete” Conrad, Richard “Dick” Gordon and Alan Bean reported observing bright flashes while trying to sleep during the space mission.
The reports were included in medical evaluations of the crew after returning from the mission.
The American government emphasized that classifying an object as a UAP or UFO does not necessarily mean evidence of extraterrestrial life. The definition is used for cases in which it was not possible to accurately identify the origin of the observed phenomenon.
Trump expanded disclosure
The current document opening cycle began in May, when the Department of Defense created a specific portal to host files related to UAPs.

In February, Trump said he had ordered the release of federal materials involving “alien life,” “unidentified flying objects” and aerial phenomena with no known explanation.
In Friday’s statement, the Department of Defense stated that the files deal with “unresolved cases” and declared that it will continue to produce separate reports for incidents that are later clarified.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the documents had fueled speculation for decades and said “it’s time for the American people to see this for themselves.”

Part of the administration’s speech also included criticism of previous administrations, which the Pentagon accuses of trying to discredit reports involving UAPs over the past few decades.
