Aerolíneas cancels flights to Miami just weeks before the World Cup

Argentine company decided to concentrate flights in Buenos Aires and prioritize routes with greater profitability due to the rise in fuel prices

The airline canceled the special flights scheduled to depart from cities in the interior of Argentina to Miami, in the United States. The decision affects operations in Córdoba, Rosário and Tucumán, which would have a technical stopover in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic.

The company’s decision was made because of the 50% increase in the price of aviation fuel, due to the conflict in the Middle East. As a profitability strategy, the company said it will concentrate its passengers in Buenos Aires. In the Argentine capital, 20 weekly flights will be maintained to serve football fans.

Direct flights from Buenos Aires to the cities of Kansas City and Dallas, both in the State of Texas, remain unchanged. The Argentine team’s first game will be against Algeria, on June 16 in Kansas City. Afterwards, the team leaves for Dallas, where they face Austria, on June 22nd, and Jordan, on June 27th.

The company will also maintain direct frequencies from the capital to Miami. However, this Saturday (May 23), flights during the World Cup period leaving Buenos Aires were already sold out.

The 2026 World Cup is already considered one of the most expensive events in history for fans in terms of tickets, accommodation and transport.

Here is an excerpt from the company’s official statement, published on its website on Friday (May 22):

In this context, Aerolíneas Argentinas will have special flights to Kansas City and Dallas, cities where Argentina will play the group stage games of the tournament. In addition, the company will reinforce operations to Miami with daily flights departing from Buenos Aires, including day and night frequencies.

The commemorative plane will soon begin operating on the company’s international routes, taking Argentine colors and the spirit of the World Cup to various destinations in America and Europe.
