Madrid – David Alaba said goodbye to Real Madrid in an emotional way on Saturday. Austria’s football team captain left the pitch of the Estadio Bernabeu in the 70th minute of the 4-2 home win over Athletic Bilbao to thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the spectators, with some fans lifting up white folding chairs in imitation of Alaba’s iconic celebration. When he was substituted, the Viennese was hugged by every Real professional and also by coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
