Haiti defeated New Zealand 4-0 this Tuesday (2), in the United States, in a friendly preparatory match for the 2026 World Cup. The team is part of Group C of the tournament and will be one of Brazil’s opponents in the first phase.
Ruben Providence, Lenny Joseph, Frantzdy Pierrot and Duke Lacroix scored the goals in the duel that took place in Fort Lauderdale, in the state of Florida. This was the country’s first victory against a team outside Concacaf since March last year, when they beat Azerbaijan 3-0.
The Haitian team will play their last friendly before the start of the World Cup next Friday (5), at 9pm (Brasília time), where they will face Peru. The match against the team takes place on June 19th, at 9:30 pm, and is valid for the second round of the competition.
The New Zealanders, on the other hand, end their preparation in the friendly against England, which takes place on Saturday (6), at 5pm. The only representative from Oceania is in Group G, alongside Egypt and Iran.
