FlixBus announced a new bus line between Lisbon and Badajoz that will reinforce connections between Portugal and Spain and take the operator, for the first time, to three cities in Alentejo. According to the portal, Estremoz, Borba and Elvas are now joining the company’s network, in a move that also marks the entry of FlixBus into Alto Alentejo.
The new route connects Lisbon and Badajoz with stops in Setúbal, Montemor-o-Novo, Évora, Estremoz, Borba and Elvas. According to the same source, the connection will allow the creation of direct routes between Badajoz and several locations in Alentejo, in addition to reinforcing cross-border mobility in the region.

With this expansion, the operator now has a presence in cities where it did not previously operate. Estremoz, Borba and Elvas join the FlixBus network for the first time, gaining direct access to Lisbon and the Spanish city of Badajoz.
The company believes that this connection can benefit both residents and visitors, by increasing road transport options in an area of the country with fewer international connections.
Routes and travel times
According to the information released, the journey between Lisbon and Badajoz will last less than four hours. The journey between Setúbal and Badajoz can be done in just over three hours.
Among the new connections available are Lisbon-Estremoz, Lisbon-Borba, Lisbon-Elvas, Setúbal-Estremoz, Setúbal-Borba, Setúbal-Elvas, Badajoz-Setúbal and Badajoz-Montemor-o-Novo.
Opening hours and prices
In the initial phase, the line will have two daily circulations, one in each direction. Departures from Lisbon, from Gare do Oriente, are scheduled for 9:45 am, while trips originating in Badajoz start at 4:25 pm.
Tickets are now available on the cell phone application, on the operator’s website, at Pagaqui points of sale and at partner travel agencies. Prices start at 8.49 euros for Lisbon-Estremoz and 9.49 euros for Lisbon-Elvas.
Where are the new stops
FlixBus also revealed the locations of new stops in Alentejo. In Estremoz, buses will operate from the city’s Bus Terminal. In Borba, the stop will be at Praça da República, while in Elvas it will be next to the viaduct connecting to the historic center.
In the statement cited by the portal O Digital, the director of operations at FlixBus in Portugal, Tiago Cavaco Alves, stated that the company’s arrival in these cities “reinforces the commitment to making mobility more accessible and sustainable throughout the national territory”.
He also added that the expansion could contribute to “territorial cohesion and strengthening cross-border links between Portugal and Spain”.
