Earthquake in Venezuela: tremors in Brazil do not cause damage but may return

Os earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that hit Venezuela this Wednesday (24) were felt in at least four Brazilian capitals: Manaus (AM), Belém (PA), Boa Vista (RR) and Macapá (AP).

Risk of new tremors

O clarifies that the distance between Brazilian cities and epicenters prevents serious impacts on national soil.

However, seismologist Bruno Collaço states that the occurrence of replicas (aftershocks) is common in the days following events of this magnitude.

Security agencies continue to monitor possible new incidents in the North region.

Monitoring and inspections

In Belém, the ea Civil Defense carried out technical inspections of buildings in the neighborhoods of Umarizal and Jurunas after reports of objects shaking.

In Amazonas, seismic waves were also perceived in where authorities remain on alert.
